ABOUT K&D

The Story of K & D

In the 1970s, the Italian-designed, British-built Jensen Interceptor began populating the United States increasing the demand for parts. In 1972, TDB Automotive was formed to supply a growing need for Interceptor parts. As the Interceptor grew in popularity, the need for information grew as well. In 1976, the Jensen Interceptor Owners Club (JIOC) was created to provide a forum for owners to exchange information on the maintenance and preservation of the Jensen Interceptor. This was also the year that the Jensen factory began its decline.

In the Pacific Northwest, around 1980, an Interceptor Mk1 was marked for scrap. The founders of K&D Enterprises, Doug and Keri Meyer, began a restoration project which, due to the car’s condition, became a major reconstruction project. With the Jensen factory & available parts in decline, much effort was spent researching, testing alternatives, applying modifications and enhancing the car with upgraded technologies. They gained a thorough understanding of how the Jensen was built and learned they were not alone in their quest to restore these great cars and keep them on the road. In 1993, TDB Automotive was incorporated into K&D Enterprises. Through years of research, K&D was able to provide Interceptor owners & service shops with the most cost effective, quality parts.

In 2015, Doug and Keri gave up the Interceptor life style and the rains of the Pacific Northwest to retire to an island off the coast of the Honduras and a new phase of life began both for them and for K&D. In July 2015, I purchased the company and Doug and I moved the inventory across the country to Maryland. My association with things Jensen began with the purchase of a 1963 C-V8 and I have owned several Interceptors and a few Jensen Healeys since then, my current beast being a 1974 convertible. Like many, over the years I sourced my parts for restorations from K&D and, looking for a new adventure, I decided to source the whole company.

All because of a forsaken Mk1, found languishing in 1980, K&D is now the only facility in the world dedicated solely to providing quality parts for the Jensen Interceptor. Through the experiences from K&D’s journey, we hope to provide a more inviting, and easier, journey for others. We remain committed to maintaining & preserving what we know to be the most distinctive driving machine.

The Jensen Interceptor "it's all we do".
