ABOUT
US
In the 1970s,
the Italian-designed, British-built Jensen Interceptor began populating
the United States increasing the demand for parts. In 1972, TDB Automotive
was formed to augment this need by offering Interceptor parts. As the
Interceptor grew in popularity, the craving for information grew as well.
In 1976, the Jensen Interceptor Owners Club (JIOC) was created to provide
a forum by which owners could exchange information on the maintenance
and preservation of the Jensen Interceptor. This was also the year that
the Jensen factory began its decline.
Within the Pacific Northwest, in about 1980, an Interceptor Mk1 was marked
& scheduled for scrap. How could we have known that by purchasing
this Interceptor, we were in for an incredible ride. Due to its condition,
its restoration became major reconstruction and our pursuit for parts
& information began through the typical channels of clubs & parts
suppliers. With the Jensen factory & available parts in decline &
many encounters of internal dissension from some organizations, this only
increased our enthusiasm & perseverance. With only this forsaken Mk1
& sheer tenacity, we embarked on a journey that would change our lives
& the lives of others.
Contacts made whether within the States or abroad were either unwilling
or unable to yield the information we sought. We inquired about new wings,
doors, wire harness & bonnet; there were none for the Mk1. So, we
took what we had and began reconstructing from scratch. Enormous amounts
of time & energy were spent researching, testing alternatives, applying
modifications and enhancing the car with upgraded technologies. We gained
a thorough understanding of how Jensen built this Interceptor. Through
our investigations, word began to spread. We received many inquiries from
around the world by others eager for information. Owners from within the
States began asking about service & restoration. We had not been alone
in our quest but merely separated by great distance.
In 1993, TDB Automotive was incorporated into our ongoing Interceptor
passions of K&D Enterprises. K&D's restorations have taken the
Interceptor to new heights, providing owners with not only an aesthetically
superior ride but in essence a "brand-new" and reliable Interceptor.
Through years of research, we can provide Interceptor owners & service
shops with the most cost effective, quality parts. Simply put, if we wouldn't
use it on our own Interceptors, we won't offer it. We use the parts we
sell. Through our services and restorations, we can provide up-to-date,
comprehensive technical information to both service shops & owners
as well.
Yes, this forsaken Mk1 dynamically changed many lives and in the process
essentially brought forth the only facility in the world dedicated solely
to the Jensen Interceptor. Through the experiences of our journey, we
hope to furnish a more inviting journey for others. This is our commitment,
to maintain & preserve what we KNOW to be the most distinctive driving
machine.
The Jensen Interceptor "it's all we do".
