This is the wee stainless piece fits over the two joining pieces of the RH and LH windscreen trim pieces for early cars. On later cars the upper one has two threaded studs that go through the seal and body of the car at the top. But this piece remained the same at the lower joining. Someone probably thought that the windscreen would fly off if it weren't bolted down.
