These hatch fixing plates have a 1-1/2 inch  stud .  Best way to figure out were to cut these is to place it into the hole, place the hatch trim piece on top, scribe & cut.  Oh, and do check underneath as you may have to cut the stud. Due to the 'handmade' kind of car we are dealing with, there are various length studs all the way around the hatch not just RH, LH, Upper & Lower. You get to choose long or short and that's it. Sounds simple huh? You wanted a challenge right? I think the whole car is a challenge!
