This plate has the two threaded studs on the back side of this trim piece covering the upper joint of the windscreen trim. If your windscreen chrome trim has holes at the top then this is your piece. Studs go in holes and fasten with nuts (maybe to keep it in place?) Earlier cars like Mk1 just had clips top and bottom. Things were more dangerous or care free in 1967. It is stainless steel, of course! After installation, remember to fill that area in the cabin with urethane or it will look like your rear view mirror is leaking during a rain...
