Basically earlier cars have a three piece Radiator Hose set up. This item is the steel pipe that connects the curved and straight rubber radiator hoses. Your early style will have a shorter flange than the late (wood dash) cars which will have a longer mounting flange.  Why?  Well, later cars have a different nose extention which holds the rad & etc. farther forward thus a longer flange.  If in doubt, please email or phone or send a picture or send messurements or etc. Cheers
