This washer has large raised ridges to help grab the clamping plates or washers fitted onto to the threaded portion of the bonnet hinge pin. This plate/washer is accessed through that small hole that you have to get your hand into to spin onto the bonnet hinge pin to keep it and the bonnet in place! Hey, just be happy there is actually an access hole!
